Why Microneedling is so Good for the Skin?

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling is a facial treatment that involves multiple minuscule needles that penetrate into the skin. The needles create tiny wounds which cause collagen and elastin production to give the appearance of younger and more youthful skin. Professional Microneedling temporarily stimulates blood vessels to tighten and brighten the skin. Microneedling is also known as Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT).

Who is it good for?

Microneedling is great for all skin types but particularly good for acne and scarring, pigmentation and uneven skin tone, enlarged pores, reduced skin elasticity, sun damage, fine lines and wrinkles. Microneedling is a great alternative to costly laser therapy treatment.

What happens during your treatment?

During your treatment, the practitioner will spread numbing cream onto the skin and a pen-shaped tool with tiny needles will be used in motions around your face. The needles can be altered to suit different skin types and can range from 1.5mm – 3mm. These needles make small cuts/incisions to the surface of the face which causes trauma to the skin. This trauma can cause some bleeding and redness but is usually reduced after a couple of hours or, in some cases can take up to a couple of days if the skin is super sensitive.

When the skin is penetrated by dozens of tiny needles, it stimulates collagen and elastin production, which heals and resurfaces the skin. Regular treatment of Microneedling in the face will help to eliminate wrinkles, give the appearance of clearer, smoother skin and give a healthy glow.

Microneedling is usually performed on the face but can be treated on other areas of the body such as the stomach or thighs. Home derma rollers are not recommended as they can be used incorrectly and are not cleaned properly, which can cause bacteria, which could infect the skin.

The procedure will last 10-20 minutes. Cost £120

Treatments are recommended every 2 – 4 weeks depending on skin type.
